What is LCQ training?

This certification is required before you apply for a General or duty managers certificate in New Zealand.

You will meet our fantastic educators who are full of energy and stories to keep the day interesting and relevant. The learning you experience with our LCQ course not only equips you with the necessary information for the LCQ test and qualifications to take your expertise to a whole new level, it also gives you essential knowledge regarding your Host Responsibilities, Employee Obligations, and Implications, as well as a general understanding of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act of 2012.

The License Controller Qualification (LCQ) is the necessary qualification required to demonstrate that those applying for or renewing their Manager’s Certificate have received “Recent and Relevant Training” as set out in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act of 2012.

You CAN NOT apply for your General Manager or Duty Manager's Certificate without completing this one day course and getting the LCQ qualification.

The LCQ training encompasses two Unit Standards:

  • 4646 – Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises
  • 16705 – Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises

Once the LCQ assessment is complete, you are able to apply for your General Managers Certificate. Omega's friendly consultants can do this process on your behalf.
